Crist Announces Florida Airports Will Receive $240 Million from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (D–St. Petersburg) announced that Florida airports will receive $240,451,192 from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to make much-needed improvements to air travel infrastructure and support Florida’s tourism-based economy.

A total of 98 Florida airports will receive funding, including:

  • $21,711,252 for Tampa International Airport (TPA)
  • $42,461,693 for Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • $44,055,710 for Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • $9,003,324 for Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
  • $32,783,431 for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • $4,841,447 for Pensacola International Airport (PNS)
  • $11,418,430 for Southwest Florida International (RSW)

In addition to these guaranteed funds, Florida’s airports can also compete with other airports around the country for an additional $5 billion in grants for terminal and landside improvements.

“Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Florida’s airports will see over $240 million for improvements and upgrades,” said Rep. Crist. “Airports are critical in supporting Florida’s tourism economy, and these investments will make Florida an even better place to fly to and from. I was proud to vote for this historic bill to modernize our infrastructure, bolster our economy, and create good-paying jobs—exactly what Florida needs as we overcome this pandemic.”

On Monday, November 15th, 2021, President Biden signed into law the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package that includes a five-year reauthorization of surface transportation programs, as well as $550 billion in new federal investments to rebuild America’s crumbling infrastructure. The bill will upgrade roads and bridges, create millions of good-paying jobs, make high-speed internet accessible for all Americans, safeguard clean drinking water, and help combat the climate crisis.
