Crist Statement on Shalanda Young Nomination to Lead Office of Management and Budget

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (D-St. Petersburg) released this statement following President Biden’s nomination of Shalanda Young, a well-respected former House Appropriations Committee staffer with whom Rep. Crist previously worked, to lead the Office of Management and Budget. If confirmed by the Senate, she would be the first woman of color to lead the agency.

“I’m thrilled that President Biden nominated Shalanda Young to lead the Office of Management and Budget,” said Rep. Crist. “I was blessed to serve alongside her on the House Appropriations Committee, where I had the privilege of witnessing her earning the respect of Members of Congress and staff of both parties. Shalanda has been a steadfast fighter for working families and everyday Americans and will be an inspiration for all those who might come after her. I have full confidence that her expertise, acumen, and proven ability to deliver will serve the American people extremely well.”
