St. Petersburg, FL – U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (FL-13) released the following statement calling for two additional stimulus payments to be included in the upcoming CARES 2 legislative package.

With the State of Florida’s broken unemployment website continuing to leave people unable to receive their state and federal benefits, Congressman Crist is calling on the federal government to continue its steadfast commitment to help working Americans through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Crist, who recently sent a letter to House Democratic Leadership with policy suggestions for the upcoming CARES 2 package, is calling on Congress to provide two more stimulus relief checks to the American people, and also correct a drafting error in the original CARES legislation that left dependent children, college students, and adults with disabilities unable to receive their checks.

“Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures,” said Crist. “People across our country are struggling through no fault of their own. These stimulus checks are a lifeline, particularly in Florida, whose failing unemployment system is also limiting the flow of federal unemployment relief currently going out in every other state in our nation.”
