St. Petersburg, FL – Congressman Charlie Crist (D-St. Petersburg) announced an over $245,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Coptic Orthodox Charities, Inc. The funding is awarded through the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Refugee Resettlement grant program.
“For close to 20 years, newly settled Pinellas County residents have been blessed with an organization dedicated to serving disadvantaged minority groups through financial, educational, legal, and social service aid. I am honored to announce this grant to Coptic Orthodox Charities so that they may continue their life-changing work for those in our communities who need it most,” said Crist.
Founded in 2001, Coptic Orthodox Charities, Inc (COC) is a community based organization with a mission to serve minority groups who are economically or physically disadvantaged by promoting and fostering health, strengthening families through education, alleviating poverty, and promoting self-sufficiency. COC is dedicated to helping refugees, asylees, new immigrants, and victims of human trafficking and partners and collaborates with federal, state, and local government agencies.
